Advancing our understanding of Earth and Planetary Sciences
The XY Squared Foundation is a small nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing scientific research in Earth and planetary sciences.
We're currently focused on our conference travel grant program, supporting researchers by enabling them to attend conferences, share their discoveries, and collaborate with peers worldwide. Our mission is to remove financial barriers that prevent talented scientists from participating in the global scientific community.
As we grow, we plan to expand our funding opportunities to include research grants, equipment support, and more. Stay tuned for future programs.
Geology, climatology, oceanography, atmospheric science, and environmental research.
Planetary geology, astrobiology, space exploration, and comparative planetology.
Grants typically range from $1,000–$3,000 per recipient and are awarded on a reimbursement basis after the approved conference travel is completed. No advance payments are provided.
To receive reimbursement, recipients must submit:
Payment is issued up to the approved grant amount.
Must have an accepted oral or poster presentation at a recognized scientific conference.
Research must have clear scientific relevance in Earth or planetary sciences.
Must disclose all confirmed or anticipated institutional, employer, or third-party travel funding.
Grants are awarded based on the following factors among eligible applicants:
Strength and scientific merit of the accepted presentation.
Alignment with the Foundation's mission.
Reasonableness of the proposed travel budget.
Demonstrated funding gap relative to total travel cost.
Ready to share your research with the world? Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed on a rolling basis, subject to the Foundation's annual grants budget.
Recipients are not required to perform services for the Foundation; grants are not compensation.
